Rat Race

It's a real rat race, isn't it?

Take social media for instance,

there's so much you can do with it, so much you can achieve with it and yes, what a blessing social media can be.

You jump on the bandwagon and get clicking and posting and clicking some more.

In not too long, you become addicted to it.

The thing is, your addiction, can be masked as work; you justify it and don't see it taking a hold of you.

If you run a business; sell a product or a service, you're required to keep churning out content in order to keep you in people's faces.

Thing is, you have millions of people selling millions of stuff and everyone rushing to catch everyone's attention with all sorts of content, within the same space.

And if you're one who's not conscious of these things, it becomes "welcome to confusion" and 'so long to tranquility', the very place where genius is birthed.

Are we pulling strings or we're being pulled by strings? Who and what, is dictating to us how life ought to be lived?

Have you seen the resulting plethora of junk content in the name of consistency?

People telling outright misleading lies just in the bid to create content?

Yet we believe them.

If you had noise in your environment, what do you think would constitute noise in the online environment?

How is it we always have something new to say?

And we're all speaking at the same time?

Will you not break, if you tried to gobble it all up?

Let's not deceive ourselves thinking we can be exposed to all of it, then begin to sieve the ones we actually digest.

That's an exercise in stress right there.

Better still, we sit down, and design or plan for ourselves how we will approach social media.

What platforms we will use and the ones we will keep from using.

Who we listen to and who we do not.

The quality or kind of content we need to thrive in our endeavors, including our kind of entertainment. Then avoid everything else that doesn't cut it for us.

As a matter of urgency, for that matter.

Don't be fooled by the things you see. The people

who use every form of social media available, have all manner of assistants managing each of those handles.

Or they WILL break down; mark my words. Something WILL definitely suffer.

The principles that hold this world in place, are eternal.

Noise, my friend by definition, will always be noise.

Tranquility and serenity, will always be the requisite atmosphere for real genius output.

Question these things, to your own peril.

People are literally losing themselves to this staccato.

Their hearts and minds, glued so much to these superficial things, that they no longer look in the eyes of even their children and loved ones long enough, nor spend quality time with them.

Is it a wonder that suicides are happening right in the midst of houses filled with people?

Who really aren't present?

Is the pressure to perform supposed to lead us away from the truest of our values?

Can we all take a short break and consciously screw our heads back on our own shoulders.

Take charge of what may be happening to you.

Of your own life.

And the direction you want to steer it.

Being honest to yourself.

And refire, empowered to be YOU.

No fakes

Just the realest, truest of the gift that you are meant to be to your world.

Who smells the roses these days?

Who walks in the park?

Who takes the time to make a loving meal from scratch for a beloved family?

Who looks up in the sky in the wee hours of the morning, to gaze at the wondrous works of the creator?

Are we to be of the microwave generation syndrome?

Or nip as much of it in the bud 'as we can', at our own doorstep.

So help us God.
