Finding Peace

What is peace?

Peace is freedom from disturbance. It is tranquillity.

Ask someone who has lost their peace. Then, you will appreciate what peace is about.

There is a peace that God gives that no man can provide, even amid a storm.

Have you ever lost your peace?

Why? How did you feel?

Pause‼!

Reflect‼!

What got you there?

Or rather, who took your peace?

Sometimes, it is by our own doing, and at times, it is inflicted on us.

If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would’ve been like a river, your righteousness like the waves of the sea.” – Isaiah 48:18

When we wander away from God’s commands, losing our peace is the consequence.

Do you want peace like a river? It gives security and tranquillity of heart and mind on the bumpy ride of life amid the twists and unexpected turns.

“Now may the Lord of Peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation.”– 2 Thessalonians 3:16

Peace is the reward of obedience to God. When we surrender our will to his will, we yield his peace, which no man can give. When you lose all control, you give God all the control.

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! –Isaiah 26:3

When you turn all your hurt and burden to Him, He will not only give you peace but also turn everything around and bring good out of wrong and unjust things. I have seen this play out many times. That’s the mercy and grace of the Father who loves and cares. You can trust him.

We must learn to surrender to God in times of adversity. Nobody is immune to it. It's inevitable.

It can be challenging to trust and surrender, but it's rewarding.

Obedience is proof of surrender to God, no matter the situation. I know it is easier said than done. What is the point of losing your peace when you can easily surrender?

Do you want God’s peace?

  • Do not forsake connecting with God’s family.

  • Forgive those who have hurt you (I know it is never easy).

  • Set strong boundaries.

  • It is ok to say No. You are not the saviour.

  • Build healthy connections.

  • Keep your circle small.

  • Take time to reflect.

  • Be accountable.

  • Journal.

  • Stay true to your values.

  • It's ok not to be ok.

  • Ask for help.

If it takes, your peace is not worth it. Be guided and let his peace stabilize you.
